To Store or Not To Store

Since most of my stuff sits in a storage facility John and I decided it would be cheaper to buy a storage building and place it by the Pea Pod. We started by building a platform to erect the building on. John had fun clowning around and keeping me laughing as the sweat poured off the two of us.

Once we screwed down the last piece of plywood I commented that John had built us a dance floor. He led me to the centred of the platform and said wait right here. He then ran into the pea pod and played an Elvis song. He ran back out so we could dance on our newly erected dance floor under that beautiful blue Texas sky.

Of course Mater had to get involved. After a full days work we went in to shower and rest up. On Saturday we started to erect the building by carefully following directions. Sometimes they didn't make sense on the order of things but we did not question the instructions.

After spending most of the day Saturday fighting with the tin and poor John getting one cut after another we were nearly through. John sat down to give Mater and Bridget some needed attention. We had to chase Mater away a few times because he kept bringing his golf ball over then dropping it on the wood floor. He would grin at the ker plunk then watch the ball roll.

We put the doors on the next day after much needed time away to run errands. With the building complete all that is left to do is position it where we want it on the platform and screw it down. We also decided to build a lean to of sorts on one side so we can store our fishing poles out of the weather. John commented on the fact I was not in any of the pictures. I replied I was the one behind the camera.

While we were busy doing this I found out that Publish America has went up on the prices of the books they Publish. I am now wondering if I should look for another publisher or possibly Self Publish. More about this later.

NOOO! NOT MY TRUCK

I hate to say it but I will have to part with my beloved truck. I have been Ms. Responsible and I want to make sure that all my bills get paid. Being off work has been fine but I know I will continue to see Dr. Krause in order to get my poor aching feet back to where they need to be. I posted an ad on Craigs list and I am surprised at how many calls we have received. People want to come and see her but John and I have been bust the last couple of weeks so we have put them off.

Saturday will be the one year anniversary since I packed up and ran away from home. A lot has happened since then. My first book Out of the Texas Mist was released. I had a book signing and now my second book Dead X's in Texas will be out soon. I guess we all have to grow up sometime.
I met this sweet Marine that kind of took the bull by the horns and took over my whole life. I enjoy being around him and I don't complain when he tries to spoil me. I'm not used to being treated like that. Needless to say things are still changing well at least it is for the best.

And so it begins

I just finished my Authors Questionnaire for Publish America. Once I send it to the publisher the process will begin. Yesterday as John and I went out for a few errands we stopped off at Double Horn Creek to wet our lines. There I saw a wildflower I had always loved so after a short conversation with it we decided it would be okay to transplant her the same way I was transplanted. She smiled as I uprooted her then packed her in wet paper towels for the journey to the ranch. When we arrived back at the pea pod I transplanted her in the corner of our little patio.

Transplanted

I have to admit that I love it here on the ranch where everything is peaceful. John is such a dear man and he knows just how to keep me happy. We sit out on the little patio at night watching the sunset and making plans for our future.
A new life forming
Mater and Bridget are happy here and it shows. They have made new friends but I am amazed at how well they get along with John's cat Emily Lou. She seems to tolerate the two of them and Mater can't seem to get enough of her. Sometimes he gets a bit carried away and she has to let him know that enough is enough.
Enjoying Family
A new friendship
father and daughter
Last week I had the pleasure of meeting John's daughter Nicole. She came down for vacation and needless to say John was ecstatic. They took off for a day leaving me to my own devises so I worked on the new book Dead X's in Texas. I had fun making a picture for the publisher to consider as the cover.
Possible Book cover
All in all my life is full of adventure and good times. I have a little Hill Country family and then I have my kids that live in a land far away. I talk to them on a daily basis but I'm glad that I made that move a year ago. It's amazing what changes can happen in one short year.
